Information About Eyelash Extensions

What are eyelash extensions?

Eyelash extensions are professionally applied, one on each natural lash, with a semi-permanent glue meant to hold them in place for several weeks. Extensions add length and volume to your natural lashes.

Know Before Your Eyelash Extension Appointment

  • Your first appointment will be your longest, taking approximately 90 minutes up to 2 hours.

  • Arrive to your appointment with your eyes entirely clean of makeup.

  • Avoid caffeine; be prepared to keep still and relaxed as you’ll need to keep your eyes shut. This is the perfect time to unwind and bring headphones to listen to music, a book on tape, or your favorite podcast… or be prepared for a nap.

  • To avoid the complicated logistics of extracting yourself mid-application, please visit the restroom before you begin your appointment.

  • Consider your personal taste and expectations and communicate them to your lash technician prior to application (e.g., are you interested in a more natural or dramatic look?)

  • For your first appointment feel free to ask a technician to spot test the glue on the inside of your wrist (this helps identify any potential allergy to the adhesive).

The procedure

To begin, you’ll lie down on your back and get comfortable. Your bottom lashes will be shielded with under-eye pads. Prepare for your eyes to remain closed for the entire application, as your technician delicately affixes each extension with tweezers and towards the end of your appointment they may gently fan them to help dry the adhesive.

Caring for your Eyelash Extensions

Your lashes look gorgeous. Now here are a few tips for taking care of them:

  • Do not get lashes wet for 48 hours after application so that they can dry completely

  • Avoid humid environments that produce steam and sweat (including saunas and tanning beds) for 48 hours after lash application

  • Do not rub, tug, pull or pick your lashes

  • Do not use oil-based makeup or makeup remover (using water-based makeup and makeup remover are ok)

  • Do not use waterproof and hard-to-remove eye makeup products (including mascara)

  • Do not use an eyelash curler

  • Take off all traces of eye makeup nightly and thoroughly wash your lash line daily by using water-based makeup remover

  • Gently clean and detangle your lashes with a pristine mascara wand or spool brush daily

  • Try not to sleep on your face and use a silk pillowcase, if possible

  • See a trained lash technician to have lash extensions removed

  • To keep your extensions looking full and fresh, please come in for touch-ups every 2-3 weeks (book an appointment at

Extensions, properly applied and cared for, should not make your eyelashes fall out, but you will notice some inevitable casualties as your lashes grow and shed according to their natural cycles.
